Sneak Peek.

Here's a sneak peek of a few of the lovely pictures of our big day taken by the amazing Briana Wollman!  Check out her website: www.brianawollman.com. Many thanks to her assistant, Micah as well.  Love to my bestie and MOH, Kristine, for all the help with the awesome graphics.  Thank you to Amanda and Michelle at Hickory Street Annex for welcoming us into your fantastic venue.

We would like to thank all of our beautiful bridesmaids (the ladies) and handsome groomsmen (the gents), our new families that have welcomed each of us with open arms, our parents for making this wonderful day possible, all our friends and family that got all dressed up, traveled from near and far (even as far as Scotland, Haiti and Australia) to celebrate with us!

We have never felt so much love and support.  It was truly overwhelming.  We will cherish that love and carry it with us, always.

We recycled old boxes into coasters and stamped them with our "logo" that Kristine developed just for us. The air plant in vase is for the groom with love from his bride.

Bernice's Journey to Asia

In lieu of traditional favors we have made a donation in the name of all our guests at the wedding to ReachGlobal, the international branch of Evangelical Free Church of America - an association of over 1,500 autonomous churches and church plants in a growing ministry that currently extends to some 75 countries of the world.

And specifically, your gift will help our dear friend, Bernice Yen, who is joining a team in Asia for the next two years to disciple national, believing women and do relief work and follow-up support in the earthquake zone. One of the goals of her team is to plant a church in this area because currently there are none. Please join us in supporting Bernice's Journey to Asia through prayer.

If you would like more information, feel free to contact Bernice at Bernice.Yen@efca.org or check out her Facebook group "My Journey to Asia" and request to be added. If you would like to make a donation, please go to www.efca.org/give-now and put "Account #1622 - Yen" in the designation box.

You can also join us for a night of sharing in which Bernice will be telling her story and more about her mission in Asia on Sunday, May 6th. Please contact Kim for more information @ kimmyintx@gmail.com

Hickory Street Annex.

We're really excited to have our ceremony + reception at the Hickory Street Annex.

Located in Deep Ellum at the corner of Hickory Street and Second Avenue, near the Pearlstone Grain Elevator, this complex of buildings was originally a distribution center for Gulf Oil Company. Constructed in 1921, it served Gulf Oil Corporation’s North Texas region by providing automobile maintenance facilities for Gulf’s vehicles and storage space for its customer and automobile products.  Gulf Oil was a major contributor to the economic development of Dallas and the state of Texas.  Gulf Oil Corporation moved from this site in the late 1950’s.

Since then, Hickory Street Annex housed a variety of occupants, including C.H. Collier Company, Moonstruck Theater and the Deep Ellum Opera Company. Gary Kaelson purchased the property in 1997 and maintains the property for his tenants. Today, the property has evolved from an oil distribution center to a thriving new creative community with many of the spaces leased out to successful small businesses.

For the owner, preservation was always at the forefront of the plans. For example, when renovating the Annex event space, they opted to enlarge the windows to improve the views of downtown. But instead of throwing out the old windows altogether, they kept them in place, and simply enlarged the space on either side, effectively maintaining the original façade.

Environmental stewardship was equally important during the renovation. No Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paints or finishes were used. Doors, light fixtures, and other elements are largely reclaimed elements. The cellulose insulation is made from recycled newspapers. Recycled paper goods are standard inventory in the event kitchen and restrooms. And the space is powered by Green Mountain Energy, which generates 100% of its electricity from renewable wind power. Future design plans for the Annex include electricity generated by solar panels.

A first for us.

First thing's first! We picked what would be one of the coldest weekends in this unseasonably warm Winter to take our engagement photos. Armed with our loves, Tex & Zoey, our amazing photographer Briana Wollman and our photo assistant/dog wrangler/blanket hauling maid of honor, Kristine, we set out to the site of our first date. It's a beautiful park, but it was bone-chilling cold. We are fortunate to have some really beautiful shots in spite of how cold we were that morning. The next day, we shot in the space across the street from where we'll be married in April. The cool look of the industrial space against the warmth of the photos from the park are a perfect balance, not to mention tell our story of where we started and where this journey has taken us beautifully. Much love to Bri, Kristine & Marci for all their help during the shoot! Here are some our faves we wanted to share with you... l/k+a

How we met.

I'll never forget how Andrew and I first met, because I fell totally and completely in love that day. It was late April of 2006 and I stopped by his family's furniture refinishing business to discuss a client's project. I walked inside and found curled up around the base of a desk chair the cutest, fluffiest little puppy I had ever seen. I later found out he was a tri-color Australian Shepherd. Brown, white and black all over with big brown eyes and a short little barely there tail that never stops wagging. That was it for me. Love at first sight. And his name was Texas.

And then I met his owner... Andrew. I was immediately struck by how cute he was, but it was his sweet little dog that really caught my eye that day. So much so that by the following April I had my own australian shepherd - Zoey, a wild aussie mix I rescued from the Frisco Humane Society. Or rather she rescued me. I fell madly in love with my little aussie.

Throughout the next few years, Andrew and I ran into each other every so often. I always looked forward to seeing him and talking about our dogs. Tex was always with him so I got to watch the little guy grow up. We even took Texas for a walk one day at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve near Andrew's Refinishing. It was our first date. I really liked Andrew, but I guess the timing just wasn't right.

Fast forward to April of 2010. I ran into Andrew again at the shop one day, Texas at his side, of course. We went out on our second date that same night. And a few days later we took Tex and Zoey for a walk. Andrew's gentle, loyal, well-trained Texas and my wild, playful, crazy dog soon became inseparable. And so did we.

So I fell in love again. This time with Andrew. But I have no doubt that it was God's plan to bring Andrew into my life and into my heart with the help of an angel named Texas.

We've added yet another to our crew. Somehow these two dog lovers ended up with a cat. Honestly, I hated cats, but Andrew has such a big heart for animals that he couldn't let the little guy end up in a shelter. Now, Poo Paw is a big part of our little family, and I can't imagine life without him.

I can't imagine my life without any of them...but especially my love, Andrew.

You've probably heard we're getting married! We look forward to celebrating with you on Friday, April 27th as we start our lives together! Please check back soon for hotel info for those of you who are traveling from out of town as well as additional wedding details throughout the next few months.
